Jay erected this house about 1825 for Joseph Randolph Mullings. Mullings was solicitor for Joseph Pitt, whose Pittville Estate in Cheltenham was the scene for several Jay houses. Jay's original portion of the house stands in the center of various sprawling additions made after 1825.
